Hello,
I have a W140 S-Class that I brought to Sweden 4 years ago from the UK and haven't used for the last 3 years. It sat in a garage with the battery disconnected, and I recently decided to use it during the winter time instead of my SL, and therefore I have started the importation process with Transportstyrelsen in order to register the vehicle in Sweden.
The car started up fine, and I drove it a few 100 km before it sat on my driveway awaiting the paperwork from the aforementioned Transportstyrelsen... In the last weeks, it had rained a lot and the battery was connected during this time. 3 days ago, I tried to take the car to the workshop at my office and it didn't start... flat battery.
After charging the battery over the weekend, the car started, but the BAS/ASR fault lamp is on, and the fault will not heal itself even if the battery is disconnected for some time.
With the BAS/ASR fault activated:
The idle speed is raised to approx 1000 rpm.
Approximately 30 Nm of torque output from the engine.
No response from the accelerator peddle.
With all the rain we have had in the last few weeks, I wonder if the combination of leaves and rain caused part of the engine compartment to become damp and possibly damage the ASR/BAS control module. Although I can't see any evidence of this happening.
Any ideas would be most appreciated, or tips on Mercedes Specialists within the Ekerö or wider Stockholm area.
Cheers,
Neil
