Hi Guys.
I have a 1989 420SEC, which got a "2" at the last "besiktning".......high HC......about 180 at idle and 38 at 2500 rpm........and most of my contacts here and in the UK are sure that the KAT no longer works as it should. Further my contacts with Mercedes Benz here in Malmö say that this part is NLA.......no longer available.....anywhere in Europe, it is no longer manufactured..............so what do I do............anyone have any ideas. I have located a used KAT here in Sweden done about 19000mil and it looks like the only one I have found anywhere...............anyone have any suggestions.............please

Hi George,
Contact Raka Rör in Göteborg (www.rakaror.o.se), they can probably build a new pipe with the correct cat.

There was no need to replace the KAT, nor was there any need to strip the top lock as Mercedes had suggested-----for 15 to 20 thou kr, all that was needed were new plugs and a little TLC done by Auto Tune, Moheda...HC 43.....
